Description

The great leader is seen as a servant first. A mark of a leader, an attribute that puts him or her in a position to show the way for others, is that he is better than most at pointing the direction. Every day we are challenged with decisions in our personal lives, workplaces, and other areas where life is lived out among people with conflicting interests and demands. The fundamental ingredient to healthy decision making is not knowledge. It is understanding people and processes from a servant-leadership perspective. By clearly stating and restating the goals the leader give certainty and purpose to others who may have difficulty in achieving it for themselves. Servant-leaders employ a number of essential tools in order to make the best possible decisions towards meeting goals. These include collaboration, accountability, effective listening, emotional intelligence, and handling conflict in a healthy, productive way. Servant-leaders recognize that decision making falls predominantly inside two crucial dimensions: (1) proper procedures that ensures a vigorous consideration of the depth and breadth of an issue and (2) a healthy criteria to base the decisions upon. This seminar will provide an overview of servant-leadership principles that lay the groundwork to address decision making within these two dimension so that attendees can make better decisions.
